Perception and Data

In the domain of Perception and Data, a specialized focus is Tactile Sensing for Robots. Our endeavours here involve the creation of innovative technologies and signal processing methods tailored for tactile sensors, granting robots a heightened sense of touch, encompassing force and tactile sensing. Our approach includes the design and construction of tactile sensors employing optical and magnetic transducers.

Beyond the development of tactile sensing capabilities, we extend our research to advance human and robot perception. By employing robotics, we delve into the study of human senses and the sensorimotor system, with the overarching goal of enhancing both robots and human-machine interaction methods. For instance, we investigate the human sense of touch to create robotic interfaces that enhance the immersiveness of virtual reality applications. Additionally, our exploration of the human vision system aids in the development of more efficient robotic vision. Through these interdisciplinary efforts, we contribute to the seamless integration of robotics into diverse applications, promoting a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines.
