Cardiac Digital Twin
Within the Centre for Bioengineering, researchers are developing novel digital twin AI technology to aid the treatment and diagnosis of heart conditions. A digital twin can be considered a virtual representation of a real-world object or system, in this case the heart. Simulations are run using this digital twin to develop patient specific treatment approaches, all without placing the patient at risk! This in silico example of precision medicine has huge potential to revolution future healthcare. Dr Caroline Rooney is leading some of this activity linking with Queen Mary's Digital Environment Research Institute.
